Hi there, my name is Keegan. I am a 4th year student at the University of Manitoba, and am thrilled to be completing my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) practicum with Oak Tree Therapy. I hold experience working closely with folks belonging to marginalized communities as well as folks recovering from addictions. I believe that every story matters, and I’m committed to creating a space where you feel safe to share yours. Together, we can explore the complexities of your experiences and work toward fostering a deeper understanding of yourself.
My Practice:
While I tailor my services to the unique needs of each client, my approach to therapy centers family systems, attachment theory, and elements of psychoanalysis. Rooting my practice in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and client-centred framework, I utilize my experience with DBT, CBT, and mindfulness techniques to help clients build coping skills and resilience. I am dedicated to supporting individuals seeking to better understand themselves and their relationships, and I am particularly interested in helping clients explore the deeper emotional patterns and historical contexts that influence these present experiences. Additionally, my work aims to be a safe and affirming space for those navigating 2SLGBTQ+ identities (among other diverse backgrounds), and those experiencing substance usage and addictions-related challenges. My goal as a student practitioner is to help empower clients to embrace their authentic selves while promoting understanding and healthier dynamics within their relationships. Your story matters, and I’m honoured to be part of your journey toward healing and empowerment.
