Hello, my name is Jomar. I am an experienced social worker who is registered with Manitoba College of Social Workers. I achieved my bachelor’s degree at the University of Manitoba and aspire to pursue my master’s degree in the future. My professional passion is helping my clients fight the good fight to see a better tomorrow for themselves and their loved ones.
I have worked in various social helping fields throughout my 15-year career. I have had the pleasure of working with people from different cultures and different backgrounds. This includes children, youth, adults and seniors. I started my journey as a geriatric social worker providing consultation and end of life support to the elderly and their families. My role during this time was to help my clients maximize their quality of life while also helping them deal with personal change and loss. I have also had the opportunity to work with clients involved with the justice system, helping them correct mistakes from the past and connecting them to services to help them become productive members of society. Lastly, I have held positions as a child protection worker and action therapist, working closely with at-risk youth. I focused on delivering a client-centred, wrap around approach, to help clients navigate and succeed in the challenges they faced.
I look forward to utilizing my experiences in a therapeutic approach at Oak Tree Therapy. I plan to instil a sense of assurance, connection and acceptance in my clients. In my work I aim to build upon strengths that our clients already have within them.
