I am a mother and a multidisciplinary professional with a rich background spanning a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, a Master’s Degree in Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Social Work. I am a member of the Canadian Association of Social Workers and registered with Manitoba College of Social Work. My career reflects a deep commitment to social justice, mental health advocacy, individual/community empowerment, cultural competency/awareness and fostering family unity, resilience and wellbeing.
with formal training in law, psychology and licensure in social work, I bring a unique blend of legal acumen, non-judgemental support and compassionate care to my work. My learning and experience has provided me an understanding of the behavioural, emotional, social and environmental factors that shape human experiences, including the ability to navigate the complexities of the human mind and behaviour, and the ability to decode, guide and equip individuals with the insight and tools to heal, grow and thrive.
My Practice
In my practice thus far, I have held diverse roles in areas such as play therapy, youth and young adult mental health advocacy, community mental health, adult disability services, intake services, and mental capacity and best interest assessments. I have supported individuals and families through mental health challenges including depression, stress, anxiety, social anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, grief and loss, self-harm, suicidal ideation, addiction, resource navigation and more. My work has served marginalized individuals and communities, survivors of trauma, individuals navigating life’s most difficult transitions and intersectional challenges within systems.
I am a fierce believer in the independence of choice and the power of empowering individuals. I provide a person-centred and strengths-based approach that is integrative and holistic, through building trust, fostering healing, providing a safe and non-judgemental space, supporting goal-oriented planning, and respecting one’s culture and values. I have collaborated with interdisciplinary teams, supported outreach programs designed to build resilience and equity. I am humbled and honoured to continue to elevate the voices of marginalized individuals, families and communities, with the aim to empower and improve access to social welfare.
