Biography
Hello, my name is Jenessa Spencer and I’m an Occupational Therapist who is registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba.
My Practice
Through the University of Manitoba, I completed the Master of Occupational Therapy program and received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology. I have experience providing support for children and adolescents with developmental or cognitive disorders, sensory processing challenges, self-regulation challenges, and navigating through traumatic life experiences.
I hold memberships with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the Manitoba Society of Occupational Therapists. Through these associations, I am provided with professional development opportunities and practice resources to further my learning in areas such as neurodivergence, mental illness, and trauma.
As an OT I look at all aspects of the individual and seek to understand the relationship between one’s personal characteristics, environmental factors, and their participation in daily occupations (tasks/activities). Gaining this understanding can help with determining where further supports or positive changes can be made to help improve one’s mental health and well-being.
I use a client-centered and trauma-informed approach when meeting with clients and I seek to create an environment that feels safe and inviting for all individuals. It is my goal for individuals to leave each session with a sense of meaning and empowerment as they work towards reaching their unique goals.
