Biography: I am completing my practicum with Oak Tree Therapy. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and am currently completing my master’s in counselling psychology at Yorkville University. I am also a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I work from a biopsychosocial, person-centred approach and I firmly believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space for my clients.
My Practice: Hi! I’m Amie; I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, collaborative space for my clients to share their stories. Life can often be stressful, overwhelming and isolating. Sometimes, it exceeds our ability to cope, and things can be too hard to manage on our own. Therapy offers us a place to explore our needs and emotions in a (hopefully) safe and compassionate environment. Together, we can work to understand your feelings better and develop tools to deal with life’s difficulties.
Throughout the therapy experience I strive to connect with my clients on all levels. This means working through the tough stuff while celebrating accomplishments and basking in the connective capabilities of shared laughter. You’re in the driver’s seat in my therapy room, and I’m here to help you along the way. From time to time, I also love sharing pop culture references or TikTok reels, if it helps promote better understanding between us.
I recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to seek support. That’s why I’m here to provide you with a compassionate space when you need it most. Your decision to reach out is a brave one, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
